Since 2001 he is Head of Operative Surgery and Topographical Anatomy Department.

Scientific activity: he is the author and coauthor of 820 scientific works, 60 patents for author's certificates and inventions, 2 textbooks, 2 manuals, 4 monographs, 2 CDs: "Splanhnology", "Operative surgery and topographical anatomy".

Prof. M. Hnatyk was supervisor of 17 PhDs and 6 scientific consultant of doctorate.

Scientific interests: the study of compensatory and adaptive processes in the body, organs and systems during surgical interventions on the organs of the chest and abdominal cavities, development of treatment methods in case of surgical complications.
